28 October; more testing and exploring ...
Worked soft pastel into this drypoint. This is a face that I chose to work with because I could draw it up quickly for the first drypoint workshop but I often lean towards a face looking directly at the audience. Maybe there's something in this.
- Paused for a moment to see how recent works sit together. I've selected the ones I feel are most successful this far. The ones I've not put in this selection feel more like tests.
- Putting them together brings the relationship between the woman and the cave together - which is something I'd not considered.
- I wanted to be less literal in what I make but if I make several pieces they combine to make the exhibition represent what I'm looking at - so I'll continue down this route - making work and selecting from several pieces so that combined - the discourse appears.
Spoke to Laura about her painting for an exhibition with Kwanza Collective UK. It's an interesting composition and relates to how she feels she relates to places.
Still working on prepping this collagraph - Its now sprayed with 2 matt coats and one gloss varnish - trying to completely seal the textures so they don't lift or damage against the wet paper when printed but also keep the details that I want.
I now have a live website : https://lornalakin.com which is still being edited but the navigation and general "look and feel" are all established.
