2 December. Rabbit Skin Glue

I was going to use this to prep the square canvas I've just made but did some research first to see if I could put a ground over it.  You can..(just not acrylic) and it's reportedly good at stretching the canvas more. But there were some notes about how it performs over time in relation to humidity and reacting to the layers over it - Article.
I used gesso to prime my square canvas and tested the rabbit skin glue on a rectangular one that I'd made a couple of weeks back.
I'd been warned by one of the lecturers that this glue stinks - it seemed ok when I opened it and started heating it but over time.. it does stink.
It slowly thickens and it seems to smell more as it does.

My instructions were for a litre of glue - I'm not sure anyone needs that much! It keeps in the fridge for a day or so but gets steadily stinkier so I made a 5th of the recommended amount and still managed to coat 2 canvasses, a test piece of masked down canvas and a small sewing frame of canvas.

My copy of Mother Tongue landed; see Research Chuffed!

Went to Stoke Creates and ArtUK Volunteering group in the evening and found out about tagging for the Art UK website which I'd like to do. I don't necessarily have that much time to volunteer but this feels manageable and would introduce me to lots of art I've not seen before.
